WHAT ARE BACH FLOWER REMEDIES?
You have all heard of Rescue Remedy, right? Well there are 38 other single remedies in the BFR complimentary medicine system. All of which balance emotions and cover an infinite number of different mental states. Seven decades have demonstrated its efficacy.
Dr Edward Bach said “Treat the person, not the disease” The remedies do not treat physical illnesses directly, but by restoring harmony to the mind, they allow the body’s natural defences to work efficiently and in turn the body heals itself.
Dr Bach’s system is pure, simple and complete, because it focusses on healing the emotions and not the triggers that cause them. The remedies work alongside and in harmony with any other course of treatment i.e. Western medicine, Homeopathic, Herbal etc. The BFR will not interfere with any other treatments, or be interfered with by them.
It is classed in the Complimentary Field of medicine and a Holistic approach. In February, Thrive are focusing on Purify thyself and Love your health. As Lynne Macwhinnie wrote in her book Emotional Wisdom with Bach Flower Remedies “How we feel about ourselves influences every aspect of our lives and how we interact with the world at large.”
When embarking on any type of change of lifestyle or way of eating, we require a good deal Self-love/Care, Patience and Confidence. The remedies that I would like to focus on that fit the February Thrive Theme are CRAB APPLE, GENTIAN, HORNBEAM, IMPATIENS and LARCH
‘I hate the way I look / feel.’
Introducing Crab Apple… Clothes that feel tight and uncomfortable? Unwanted breakouts? Feelings of Toxicity? All of the above and many more lead us into feelings of self-disgust / loathing and the need for cleansing of body and mind.
Crab Apple is key to restoring your perspective and health. Assisting in acceptance of yourself and your environment, so you can relax and enjoy yourself.
‘The diet worked at first, but last week I didn’t lose anything. I might as well just give up.’
Gentian is the remedy for despondency brought on by a setback.
The aim of the remedy is to turn this defeatism around, so that the person is able to get over the setback and try again or find another way around the obstacle.
‘I feel tired just thinking about it.’
For tiredness at the thought of the tasks that lie ahead. That Monday morning feeling of emotional lethargy/procrastination
Hornbeam helps to lift the spirits so that the task ahead can be faced and tackled, once the individual has managed to accomplish this, they find the feeling of exhaustion quickly fades.
‘I haven’t got all day!’
Impatient types are always in a hurry not only with others but also with themselves. This leads to frustration, irritability, stress and tension.
This remedy restores calm and balance. It teaches patience with oneself and others.
“I wish I could do that – but I can’t”
“I won’t be able to do it, so there is no point in trying”
“I am going to fail”
For a lack of confidence that prevents attempts at success. Expecting things not to work or for things to go wrong. Failing to throw themselves whole-heartedly into the project/life.
The positive Larch state after using the remedy, is one of complete self-confidence. In the words of Kipling’s poem… ”meet with Triumph and Disaster and treat two imposters just the same…”
The easiest way to get to know the remedies intimately is to embark on the exciting journey of self-discovery. Learning about yourself, your reactions, feelings and fears. Using them daily initially, then regularly on yourself – and not, of course, only when you are ill. Dr Bach wanted the remedies to be a part of everyday life. For those of you who are familiar with the system, individual remedies can be ordered from Thrive. For those of you who would like an hour long BFR Consultation, where I assist and support you in choosing the remedies you require and make up a mixed remedy bottle with you, my details are below.
Dr Bach believed, as do us practitioners, that everyone’s life has a purpose, though many get lost on the way. Bach Flower Remedies help us recognise and feel comfortable with our true selves. The remedies help us to rediscover our true purpose in life and reconnect with our true identity. This in turn brings about a full circle back to health in body mind and soul. This is true healing! BFR are preserved in Brandy and are safe to use during pregnancy, on infants, on pets and children (refer to safety notes on bottles regarding any grey areas on this matter).
