With this is mind, whether you are choosing a stay-cation in your back garden or a trip outdoors here are some of my top 5 product choices for the month of December.

Sunumbra Sunkids uses Cape Camomile oil, which is anti-inflammatory and soothing for irritated skin. In their ingredient list is also aloe ferox extract, which is healing for chapped skin, polyphenol rich green rooibos and broccoli sprout extract adds additional UV protection. Re-useable Bamboo Cup

Very few people know it, but 2017 marks a somewhat dubious 30th anniversary: that of the modern single-use “paper” cup. In three short decades, we estimate over 2 trillion of them have ended up in landfill – oh, in case you’re wondering, that’s 2,000,000,000,000.

The average lifespan of a single-use cup is 13 minutes – and due to their plastic content less than 1% get recycled.

Ecoffee Cup is a new generation of reusable takeaway cup. Created with the world’s fastest growing, most sustainable crop – bamboo fibre, making it BPA and phthalate free. If you haven’t experienced Ecoffee Cup, it feels a bit like thick, yet super-light cardboard; hard to believe it can hold hot liquids.

And because bamboo fibre is naturally sterile, Ecoffee Cup is lovely to drink from and won’t flavour-taint your drinks. The lid and sleeve are made with matte food-grade silicone which is designed especially for hot liquids.

It has a re-sealable no-drip lid, making it perfect to take with you everywhere you go. The whole product (cup, lid and sleeve) is dishwasher safe and should last for years if you treat it nicely; so why not switch to an alternative for your cappuccino or flat white while you are travelling on the roads.

Thrive Mixed Nuts & Dried Fruit

The synonymous South African ‘padkos’ is always filled with wonderful treats mom has packed in the car. If you are anything like my family, the demand for snacks starts about 10km out of Hilton bounds!

Why not swop out some of your padkos for healthier alternatives?

Benefits of nuts and dried fruits may help to improve our health and to prevent some diseases when included regularly in eating habits. Because of their interesting nutritional profile, some studies have evaluated the impact that nuts have on health and have observed an inverse association between the frequency of nut consumption and cardiovascular disease (CVD), type 2 diabetes and BMI.

In addition, traditional dried fruits also provide essential nutrients, such as fiber and potassium, and a wide range of phytochemicals that have been related to health promotion and antioxidant capacity.

Our Thrive range of dried fruit and nuts are packaged locally down the road from Hilton, keeping our carbon footprint as low as possible whilst still maintaining high quality standards for the produce you are consuming. I love the Hawaiian mix for my boys which has been sweetened slightly with honey.

Green Start Kids Puzzles

The Green Start Collection is an educational and eco-friendly series of books and puzzles made from 98% recycled materials and printed with soy based ink! The series is designed to help children become aware of their natural world, it teaches them how we are interconnected with everything around us. It will be that much easier for them to incorporate environmental practices into their lives as they grow when they have a base understanding of their surroundings.

Whether you’re a diehard recycler who shops with canvas bags and keeps a compost bin in the corner of your garden, or a busy parent looking for some quick tips on sorting glass from plastic, it’s easy to get your family on the path to greener living.

But the best earth-friendly practices require the co-operation of everyone in the household. So, how do parents get kids to reduce, reuse, and recycle and embrace the other basics of environmental responsibility?

As with most good habits, the best way to teach them is to be a good role model yourself. By showing that you care about and respect the environment, your kids will do the same. We believe that starting with products like Green Start exemplify all of these principles – plus their designs are gorgeous.

So that is my round up for my top 5 festive product pics for the season.

May you all stay safe, protect and nourish those around you with compassion and joy… and remember your Thrive pharmacists are always here to keep you Better Than Well.
